equiTexture is an Equipoise-Image macro program for doing texture analysis.
equiTexture is a Macintosh program for making texture measurements using images created by most laboratory
and consumer cameras. equiTexture uses published algorithms that capture the most useful set of quantitative features
that describe and distinguish textures. It uses the same user interface as equiComet, allowing high throughput
and accuracy in a setting familiar to those using other tools in the Equipoise-Image family.
equiTexture is extremely easy to use. Whole images or selected regions of interest may by measured. Just open an image,
choose the step size parameter, mark the region of interest, and with a single mouse click measure all of the histometric statistics
and Markov texture features. Histometric features include:
- mean
- standard deviation
- skew
- kurtosis
- histogram entropy (before and after co-occurrence equalization)
Markov features utilize the Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), which is automatically calculated for the selected region
using a fast, unbiased recurrent bifurcation algorithm. Features based on the GLCM include:
- angular first moment
- contrast
- correlation
- difference moment
- inverse difference moment
- sum average
- sum entropy
- difference average
- difference entropy
- co-occurrence matrix entropy
- diagonal moment
- diagonal second moment
- product moment
- triangular symmetry
equiTexture runs as a macro program in the application Equipoise-Image, a descendant of NIH Image
and Object-Image. equiTexture executes on all versions of Mac OS X in Classic mode, on Mac OS 8.6, and on
all versions of Mac OS 9. All of the image manipulation tools available in Equipoise-Image, NIH Image, and
Object-Image, are available to the equiTexture macros user.
The unregistered version of equiTexture implements a full set of quantitative measurement capabilities and
a limited set of data export capabilities. It may be freely used and the complete archive may be freely distributed.
Registered users have added data reporting capabilities, chiefly the export of measurements, results, and
statistics from the analysis of multiple comets in spreadsheet format.
Registered users will receive further documentation and examples, and are entitled to minor upgrades.
Registration is accomplished by purchasing a license from Equipoise Imaging, LLC.
